Modern Equipment and Patient Support: ASB Project Results in Zhytomyr

Representatives of Ukrainian, Austrian, and German branches of ASB carried out a joint monitoring visit to the Zhytomyr Primary Healthcare Center.
This visit was conducted within the project «Modernization of medical equipment for the rehabilitation of healthcare facilities», implemented by ASB Ukraine.

The ASB delegation included:

 
- Serhii Burlachenko – Head of Program/Area Coordinator, ASB Ukraine.
- Mariia Kravchenko – Health Officer, ASB Ukraine.
- Andreas Balog – Managing Director, ASB Austria Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Österreichs.
- Jill Kaiser – Desk Officer, ASB Germany Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund.

Local authorities also joined the visit:
- Mariia Misiurova – Deputy Mayor of Zhytomyr.
- Nataliia Sokol – Acting Head of the Health Department, Zhytomyr City Counci.

Project achievements:

 
• Procurement and delivery of specialized medical nutrition for patients with rare diseases and specific dietary needs.
• Provision of essential rehabilitation supplies, including adult and pediatric diapers, for persons with disabilities. The center currently serves 440 such patients, including 106 children.
• Delivery of modern medical equipment, including electrocardiographs, bilirubinometers, vascular scanners, and a portable ultrasound machine.
 
Currently, the center cares for 4 612 patients with orphan diagnoses. 647 of them require specialized treatment and nutrition. Due to effective cooperation, patients in need of specialized care have been provided with support items, and the doctors - with essential equipment. This assistance has significantly improved the daily lives of people with disabilities and rare diseases, as well as has contributed to enhancing the overall quality of medical services being provided to all patients of the the facility.
