The whole world celebrates International Children's Day today. On this day, November 20, 1959, that the UN General Assembly signed the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, and on November 20, 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This day is aimed to ensure the well-being of children around the world.

Also, today the opening ceremony of the newly built anti-radiation shelter of the Korolivskyi Lyceum, Buchanskyi district, Kyiv region took place. The «Back to School» project was implemented by ASB Ukraine with the financial support of Aktion Deutschland Hilft. As on today this project was successfully completed.

The shelter is a reinforced concrete prefabricated structure consisting of large concrete modules covered with a layer of ground 1 meter thickness. It can accommodate pupils and school staff in case of air alarm.

The head of the ASB Ukraine mission, Fatima Azizova, emphasized: «More than two years, this educational facility was closed, its classrooms were empty because of the war and the children studied online. But today, that changes. While it's heartbreaking that shelters like this are even necessary, it's also a reminder of our resilience. Now children return to the classrooms and continue their study, meeting their teachers and classmates and I can see happiness and smile in their faces. Each child has right to education that is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. It also empowers children to face challenges, make informed decisions, and create meaningful change in the world».

«Thank you to ASB Ukraine and German people for their support. This shelter allows pupils to attend classes offline», - said Tetiana Semenova, Deputy head of Kyiv oblast administration.

It should be noted that during the implementation of this project, we focused not only on the construction of one structure. The shelter is equipped with furniture and equipment, electricity system, ventilation and water supply system. In addition, the shelter is equipped with a lift for people with special needs, as well as a generator for uninterrupted power supply.

In addition, two modern sports grounds were installed on the territory of the lyceum and a variety of equipment that will ensure children's education in safe and appropriate manner.
